Willowood is about a girl named Lily who moves into a new city and a new apartment. She leaves behind her best friend Bailey and their special tree called Willowood. At her new school there are really mean girls and pretty stupid boys. There is the “popular girl” named Amanda. She made Lily and her new friend Gina miserable. When Lily gets a new job at the pet store she is thrilled. Lily has a love for iguanas and when she is at the pet store, she is able to help out, and play with the iguanas. While she is there she meets Nate. Nate is the owner’s son. He has very big tempers and has down-syndrome. When the kids at school start making-fun of Lily for hanging out with Nate she misses her new home even more. To make it worse when ever she calls Bailey, she doesn’t answer because she has replaced Lily with a new friend.
I thought Willowood was an O.K. book. I would give it a 7 out of 10 because it started off slow and it never really picked up. It was not my favorite book I have read. The books I like to read are more mysteries and scary.
The Vampire Prince is about a boy named Darren Shan and he is a half vampire. So because he was blooded he has to go threw the trials of death. He didn’t succeed in these challenges and he is sentenced to death, but before anything could happen he ran away with Kruda, a vampire that was going to become a vampire prince. They ran down secret tunnels of the mountain to find a way out of Vampire Mountain. Gavner Purl decides he wants to come along to so he can see Darren leave. After a while they hear noises as they come down the mountain and then they see the vampenze. These people were the enemy and as Darren was told to head back up the mountain to tell the princes, Gavner and Kruda fought with the vampenze. Darren decides he wants to help them and comes back, when he sees Kruda stabbing Gavner with a knife. Kruda was a trader. Then Darren began to run and Kruda knew that he saw. His whole plan was to teach Darren the wrong ways of living to be a bad vampire, the vampenze way. Darren fell into a stream and threated Kruda that he would rather die than help him, he let go of the rock in the stream and was gone. He survived the long and painful ride, but he had to rest with the wolves for a long time before he could recover. Once he did he made his way back to Vampire Mountain to warn the princes about Kruda and how he cannot become a prince or he and the vampenze will take over. Does Darren get there in time or is it too late.
This book is about a girl named Jenna and she works for a shoe company called Gladstone’s. Jenna has a mom and a dad, but they divorced; she also has a little sister named Faith. Faith, Jenna, and her mom all live together, and Jenna’s dad comes around every few years to say “hi”, but she doesn’t like it when her dad comes because he is always drunk. He has always been this way and that is the reason her parents got divorced. Mrs. Gladstone, the owner of the shoe company, offers Jenna a big job that she can earn a lot of money for. She has to drive from Chicago, Illinois to Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Gladstone paying for all her expenses, things that she needs on a daily basis, extra money pay, and gas money. Plus Jenna gets to drive in a Cadillac which is big deal back then. Jenna just got her license 6 months ago and feels the pressure. After Jenna begs her mom to let her go because she doesn’t want to stick around when he dad is in town, her mom finally lets her go and Jenna finally starts to realize the rules of the road and how companies really work. Mrs. Gladstone is getting old and not being able to take care of the company anymore and her son Elden wants to take over it and sell it for money. The main reason she doesn’t want to is that “You can’t buy quality,” and that is the very thing that makes Gladstone’s different. Will they give up the company or will Jenna convince them to let Mrs. Gladstone keep it.
Have you ever felt like your being watched… and you turn around and no one is there, or at least that is what you think??? Zach Jeanings feels this way when he moves to his dad’s hometown in Connecticut. His mother recently died and he feels his mom never liked him and it is because of him she died. His father gets married to his new step-mom Judy. When they first lived in the house they didn’t realize that the place was haunted and that so many people have died close to where they are living. The crossroads is a horrible place to be around and no one really lives near it at all so no one could tell them about anything that happened, they’ll just have to find out on their own. Zach knew when he moved it would be different but would it be as different as he thought it would be?
This book is about a boy named Darren Shan that is a half vampire. This is the 5th book of the series of Cirque du Freak. In the previous book was his trek to Vampire Mountain, but in this book while he is there he has to face a few challenges. Since he was blooded to a half vampire he has to get through trials to prove he is worthy of being part of the vampire clan. In the first place Darren doesn’t even want to be a vampire at all he wasn’t happy at first knowing that he had to be challenged. These challenges would definitely be harder for Darren then full vampires and he finally realizes that these trials could end in death if he doesn’t succeed either by dieing in the trial or if he fails the trial he will be sent to the Hall of Death. There are 5 trials to he has to pick from stones in a bag. Some of the challenges were eliminated because it wouldn’t be fare to make him do trials that could be impossible for him to do. There were 17 trials to choose from and 5 of them were tested against him to see if he deserved to be a vampire. Wait!
There is a little boy that is a detective and his name is Fletcher Moon (Half Moon). He is at school when a girl claims that her organizer is missing. Everyone in school doesn’t believe that he is a real detective even though he has his own badge to prove it. They wanted him to solve this case about this organizer. He found the organizer in the school garden and Herod Sharkey was blamed for taking it. The Sharkey’s are known for doing bad things, such as stealing because most of the time this was true. A girl named April who is the most popular girl in school asks Half Moon to go on an investigation since he thinks he is such a great detective. She had lost a celebrities hair for a project she was doing. He didn’t really want to do this job, but he didn’t have any important jobs to do so, just for the heck of it. He never found the real culprit he blamed a few for it. One night he saw something in his garden, a mysterious shadow. He knew it was a bad idea, but he went outside anyway. The shadow crept closer and closer. Until final Half Moon thought he saw a giant club about to hit him. He covered his face with his arm, but that didn’t help much. He blanked. The next morning he sat up in the hospital. He thought he might have some evidence of who did this so, he went to the bathroom to reveal the bruises on his broken arm that was in the cast. He found the words RED written across his arm from the bruising. Red was the name of Herod’s older brother. Red Sharkey. He went to Aprils house to photograph the bruises on his arm when he saw a fire in the Garden. He blacked out. The next morning he was found and blamed for the fire. He and Red where both being set up. Why though, who would do this and what for.
Vampire Mountain is about a boy named Darren Shan and his vampire, “master” Mr. Crepsly. They take along dangerous climb to the top of Vampire Mountain for a vampire council. Along the way they find Gavner Purl and a couple of wolves and Darren learns that vampires and wolves were once the same. As they travel through the hike to vampire mountain they finally reach it. When they go inside the mountain they travel through tunnels and once they get to the council they find that someone got there before them. They were a little late and unexpected guests were there, it was the vampeneze.
The Vampire’s Assistant is about a boy named Darren Shan and he is now a boy that is a half vampire and a half human. Mr. Crepsly, the vampire that is now raising Darren to show him how to survive on his own, is a full vampire. Mostly what this book is about is how Darren doesn’t like to be a vampire and he wants to hang out with friends and be normal. To solve this Darren and Mr. Crepsly go back to the Cirque du freak were Darren stays with a boy about his age named Evra Von, the snake boy. They hang out together and do chores together, they also meet a boy named Sam who is a regular human that live next to where the cirque is camping out for a couple weeks. He wants to become a part of the cirque to help out. Darren is finally happier he found some friends and he meets some more later on. The one thing he hates and promises is that he will not drink a human’s blood, but in order to survive Mr. Crepsly says that he will have to and he can’t rely on animal’s blood and regular food alone. In order to survive will Darren give in to the temptation…
